There Is A Light That Never Goes Out: The Lost Film of the UK AIDS Memorial Quilt at Hyde Park, 1994

All proceeds go to the UK AIDS Memorial Quilt Partnership to help conserve the Quilt and keep it on public display, so that the people it remembers are never forgotten, and as a reminder that HIV is not over.

The UK AIDS Memorial Quilt remembers more than 600 people lost to HIV and AIDS. Each panel was made by someone who loved the person it remembers, at a time when stigma meant many died unnamed and un-mourned. In June 1994, the Quilt was displayed in full at Hyde Park, laid out in one of London's most public spaces to force people to look, and to demand action when governments would not.

Filmmakers Zowie Broach and Martin Cohen spent two days recording panel makers, visitors and Quilt founder Ally Van Tillo, Neneh Cherry, Michael Hutchence and Paul Rutherford of Frankie Goes to Hollywood. The film was never broadcast and was presumed lost for thirty years, until Zowie found a VHS copy in storage. It is a rare, intimate record of queer history, full of grief, love and defiance.

The screening is followed by a Q&A with Zowie and Martin.
