Spectra: Desires

Spectra is a monthly screening of short films that celebrate bold, queer storytelling from emerging and independent filmmakers.

Hosted by The Arzner, London's only queer cinema, the program spotlights diverse voices and fresh perspectives from experimental gems to heartfelt narratives. It's not a festival. It's a regular platform. A place to watch, share, and connect through queer short films.

We will be screening:

- The Visitors - Dir. Thomas Dearnley-Davison

A quiet night at home for Luke and his mother Jill is rudely interrupted.

- Objects of Desire  - Dir. Liberty Antonia Sadler?

An intimate colour-drenched celebration of queer fat sensuality, ‘Object(s) of Desire’ is a performer portrait & poem film exploring the complex journey to self acceptance in relation to size & sexuality. This short film is a slow & sweet invocation that combines queer joy, fat pleasures & friendship while provocatively questioning a fatphobic culture.

Swing - Dir. Natacha Horn

Any relationship with unequal power can lead to mistreatment, and it takes many forms. I wanted to find a way to illustrate this with humour using modern and playful visuals. A film to make people think, to inform, but also to entertain.

This Isn’t How I Pictured It - Dir. Charles Burroughs

A young aspiring model has a very, very bad day, and starts to reconsider her career choice in the fashion industry.

If you have a film you'd like to share with us for consideration, please submit it via the form on our website.
